Choctaw County High School football fans will get their first look at first edition of the Chargers during the Ben Ashely era.
The first year head coach and his Chargers will play host to J.Z. George in Ackerman on Thursday at 6 p.m. in a controlled scrimmage.
“Each team will run a set number of plays,” Ashley said. “The scoreboard won’t even be turned on. It’s going to last about an hour and a half.”
Ashley said CCHS spread it’s 15 allotted spring practices over the allotted 21 days. “That really worked out well for us,” he said. After being without some baseball and track athletes in the early days of the spring football practices, they were able to work out with the team during the last portion of the spring.
Ashely said that they had 51 players out in what will be the top three grades next year.
“That’s not a bad number and we have a lot of younger players as well,” he said.
There will be a $3 admission charged to the Thursday night event.
