After surviving one deciding game in a best-of-three series last Monday, the Panthers of French Camp Academy faced a similar scenario this Monday when they travelled to Bogue Chitto for a deciding game three.
FCA jumped out to a 5-1 lead after five innings in the deciding game three against Lumberton on April 24, before hanging on for the 5-3 win. French Camp banged out eight hits in the win and took advantage of four Lumberton errors, while FCA pitching limited the opponents to just four hits.
The Panthers opened their second-round series in the MHSAA Class 1A State Baseball Playoffs with a 6-4 road win over Bogue Chitto in 10 innings on Friday, before dropping a 4-1 home decision to the Bobcats on Saturday.
On Friday, Bogue Chitto took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second only to have FCA score two in the third and one in the fourth to go up 4-3. BCHS tied the game with a single run in the sixth only to have the Panthers score twice in the top of the 10th to take the win.
Bogue Chitto took a quick 3-0 lead on Saturday and held on for the 4-1 win despite being outhit 8-5.
The winner of Monday’s game between FCA and Bogue Chitto was set to face Nanih Waiya in another best-of-three series on Thursday.
