Lady Panthers hit road for first-round playoff game

The French Camp Academy girls basketball team was hoping to extend their season Monday night when they hit the road to face Bogue Chitto in the first round of the MHSAA Class 1A Girls State Basketball Playoffs.

The Lady Panthers finished fourth in their region tournament which was held at Ethel last week, by falling to Durant 84-44 on Tuesday and Ethel 57-53 on Friday. The FCA boys saw their season come to an end with a 71-31 loss to host Ethel.

Abigail Holman and Sydney Jennings were named to the all-division team for the Lady Panthers, while Kevin Bobo made the squad for the boys team. Holman received the sportsmanship award and the best defensive player award, while Zee Gladney was named to the all-tournament team.

Holman scored 16 points to lead the FCA girls against Ethel, while Gladney scored 14 and CaTelia Nelson eight.

Holman scored 19 in the loss to Durant, while Anna Katherine Hosket and Gladney notched seven each.
