Tossing a frozen turkey is harder than you think. Just ask our 36 participants in the first ever Turkey & Tinsel – Turkey Toss that was held on November 10, 2016.
The Turkey Toss was a big hit with approximately 50 people that came out to the depot parking lot in downtown Ackerman to participate and watch. Children and adults took turns throwing a frozen turkey that landed from four feet to 57 feet.
Winners are: Men – Andrew Furr with 57 feet, Women – Deirdre Rush with 35 feet, Boys 11 and Under – Grayson McCulloch with 30 feet and Girls 11 and Under – Selah Ryan with 37 feet. Each winner took home a brand new frozen turkey for Thanksgiving.
Two extra frozen turkeys had to go home with someone so names were drawn from the participants. Casey Orr and Amy Burdine took those two turkeys home.
Dakota Brasher served as the emcee for the Turkey Toss and did a wonderful job. His prize for being the emcee was a frozen turkey as well.
Thank you to the following businesses for donating the frozen turkeys: Ackerman Town Hall, Alfa Insurance – Dakota Brasher Agency, Cagle’s Corner, Coleman Funeral Home, Farm Bureau – Choctaw County, Hunt’s Furniture & Mattress, Main Street Fabrics and Mitchell Dental Clinic.
Volunteers for the Turkey Toss included: Debbie Cagle, Tonya Woods, Nicholas Studdie, Casey Orr and Trella Long. The Chamber of Commerce appreciates your help!
