In September 2016, Angie Irvin of Ackerman, was crowned Mrs. Gulf States International and will go on to compete for the title of Mrs. International 2017 during the final competition in Charleston, West Virginia, August 11 and 12, 2017.
Irvin is a minister’s wife (Reverend Danny Irvin, the pastor of Ackerman Baptist Church) , the mother of two grown daughters, and a retired university instructor. She is also an active community servant, donating her time and talents to numerous organizations including You’re the Cure and Compassion International. During her reign as Mrs. Gulf States International, Irvin will promote her platform, Arthritis Awareness: All FLARED Up and speak openly about her life with Spinal Osteoarthritis.
“I am honored to have the public forum as Mrs. Gulf States International 2017 to bridge the gap between patients and healthcare providers within the Arthritis Community. Arthritis in its over 100+ forms affects over 50 million children and adults,” Mrs. Irvin states. “As a both a Cure Arthritis Ambassador and an Ambassador for the Arthritis Foundation, along with my “Arthritis Awareness” platform, my goal is to educate others about the importance of fundraising, advocacy and the need for innovative research that will ultimately lead to improved treatments and cures for the 100+ forms of arthritis.”
In addition to each contestant’s charitable platform, International Pageants, Inc. also supports the National Heart Association’s Go Red for Women program through volunteer and financial support. The Go Red for Women movement is dedicated to fighting heart disease among women.
The Mrs. International Pageant is owned and operated by Roanoke, Virginia-based International Pageants, Inc., which also operates Miss International and Miss Teen International Pageants. It is the only platform-based pageant system dedicated to highlighting women’s accomplishments through community support.
