Services for Elsie Gene Cooper Cockrell, 79, of Tupelo were Sept. 21, 2016, in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with the Rev. Matt Scopel officiating. Burial was in Lee Memorial Park.

She was born Oct. 7, 1936, to the late Lagrone and Elsie Cooper of Eupora and graduated from Eupora High School in 1954. Mrs. Cockrell was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Tupelo. She died Sept. 18, 2016, at Sunshine Health Care Facility in Pontotoc.

Survivors include four children Butch Cockrell, Tim Cockrell, Mitzi Moore and Lori Cockrell; two sisters, Sarah Cooper Stacy and Bobbie Cooper Morgan; a brother, Larry Cooper; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Curt Cockrell lll, Johnny McKissack, Cooper Moore, Ronnie Morgan, Mark Smith and Chance Underwood.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Parkway Baptist Church, Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.

Graveside services for Ellen Louise Edwards, 90, of Eupora were Sept. 26, 2016, at Edwards Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Wills officiating.

She was born to the late Dewitt and Alice Jones Edwards on Aug. 16, 1926. Miss Edwards was a homemaker. She died Sept. 23, 2016, at Golden LivingCenter-Eupora.

Survivors include two sisters, Margaret Farmer of California and Mary Alice Sherman of Mississippi; a brother, Leroy Edwards of California; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Wise-Reed Funeral Home of Eupora was in charge of arrangements.

Geneva Mae
Fulce Guess
Sept. 25, 2016

Services for Geneva Mae Guess, 80, of Philadelphia were Sept. 27, 2016, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Burial was in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was born April 15, 1936, in Choctaw County to the late Melvin “Jug” and Pearl McCarty Fulce. Mrs. Guess was a member of Mt. Nelson Baptist Church in Neshoba County. She died Sept. 25 2016, at Neshoba County Hospital in Philadelphia.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Curtis Guess of Philadelphia; two daughters, Gina Mowdy of Newton and Tena Stovall of Philadelphia; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Providence Baptist Cemetery Fund or the Gideons International Building Fund.

Cremation services with a private family memorial service for Gerald Hood Love, 77, of Dothan, Alabama, will be held at a later date.

He was born March 19, 1939, in Eupora to the late Curtis Hugh and Maude Esther Martin Love. Mr. Love retired from being the director of the Southeast Alabama Youth Services for over 40 years and was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Dothan. He died suddenly on Sept. 21, 2016, at the Chattahoochee River in Early County, Georgia.

Survivors include his wife Anne Sowell Love of Dothan; a daughter Angela Love Frierson of Midland City, Alabama; two sons, Steve Love of Headland, Alabama, and Mike Love of Wicksburg, Alabama; a stepson Taylor McKee of Dothan; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Bennie Joe Taylor, 81, of French Camp were Sept. 24, 2016, at French Camp Cemetery.

He was born July 4, 1935 in French Camp. Mr. Taylor served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of French Camp Baptist Church. He died Sept. 22, 2016, in French Camp.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Dykes Taylor of French Camp; two sons, Kenneth Taylor of Georgia and Richard Taylor of Brandon; two daughters, Meredith Taylor of Miami and Tammy Taylor of Brandon; two sisters, Cheryl Taylor Gill of Florida and Mary Barton Simpson of Weir; and numerous grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital,
Shriner’s Hospital or Batson Children’s Hospital.

Services for Edward Troy Jackson, 70, of Ackerman were Sept. 22, 2016, at Edgefield Baptist Church in Attala County with the Rev. Doug Wise officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
He was born June 24, 1946. Mr. Jackson was an equipment operator. He died Sept. 21, 2016, in Ackerman.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Bunn Jackson of Ackerman; two sons, Tommy Jackson of McCool and Troy Jackson of Ackerman; a brother, David Jackson of Carmack; a sister, Dorothy Hughes of McCool; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
