It was a TBS–Throw Back Saturday–Saturday, May 7, when French Camp Academy alumni from several states and all walks of life met and spent the beautiful, sunny day together.
The business meeting, where more socializing than business occurred, kicked off at 10:00 a.m. During the meeting, Jack Sherrill (’63), presented FCA with funds for a piano, donated by his sister, Pat Sherrill Cannon (’58), in memory of her husband Von Cannon (1945-2010).
FCA President, Stewart Edwards, spoke about the continued success of students through academics and sports. President of the Alumni Council, Johnnie Lou Henderson, presented Renee Warren with the Alumni of the Year award for outstanding accomplishments throughout her life.
After, an outstanding BBQ meal prepared by the Barlow’s, there were several activates for each alumni, including a basketball throw contest, ceramics, skeet shooting, and finally cookies and lemonade hosted by Mary Ida Downing Harper and Joy Thomas Marshall at Maria Price’s beautiful new home.
The final event of the day was dinner and music at the Hall Lodge, overlooking Lake Ann. If you missed the day, you’ll have a chance to participate in all the fun next year. Stay tuned; we’ll let you know when the next Alumni Day will take place.
