The Panthers of French Camp Academy lost a trio of close ballgames last week to fall to 2-7 on the season. FCA was set to host Leake County High School on Tuesday, before visiting the Gators on Thursday and hosting Nanih Waiya on Friday.
FCA opened last week with a 16-12 loss to Noxapater, before stumbling to Nanih Waiya on Tuesday and then losing to Noxapater 4-2 on Thursday.
Despite giving up 12 runs in the first inning in the first game with Noxapater, the Panthers fought back to cut the Tigers’ lead to just three runs before finally falling 16-12.
Brooks Warren smashed a homer and double and drove in five runs for FCA, while Brady Jackson smacked a double and single and Luke McKnight had a pair of singles. Holman Edwards doubled for FCA, with Zach Avent, Connor Windham and Colin Perry picking up a hit each. McKnight had two RBIs for the Panthers, while Logan Burchfield and Warren scored three runs each.
McKnight and Jackson each doubled for the Panthers in the loss to Nanih Waiya, while Burchfield singled. McKnight pitched the entire game for FCA, striking out seven, while allowing just six hits and three earned runs.
Warren doubled for FCA in the 4-2 loss to Noxapater, while Burchfield singled. Jackson had an RBI and Windham and Isaiah Miller each scored runs. Jackson struck out seven and allowed just
two hits in four innings on the mound, while Avent struck out three with just one walk and one hit in three innings of work.
The Lady Panthers played just one fast-pitch softball game last week, dropping a 13-3 decision to Noxapater.
Monica Mien and Sydney Jennings each had hits for FCA in the game. French Camp was set to play Leake County in a doubleheader this week.
