The rapidly improving Choctaw County High School volleyball team has one more match to gain experience before it begins region play at home against Pisgah on Monday, Aug. 31. The varsity match is set for 6:30 p.m., with the junior varsity playing an hour earlier.

“We played extremely well against Starkville (last week),” said CCHS head coach Miranda Worrell. “I hope the girls are able to see just how talented they really are after competing well against a great 6A team.”

The Lady Chargers opened last week with a solid 3-0 win over Aberdeen before falling to Starkville 3-1. SHS won the first two games of the match, before Choctaw County battled to take the third set.

Volleyball“Bre Montgomery had a great game against Starkville,” Worrell said. “Haley Lampard continues to be a terrific setter and Shakeria Smith has come a long way with her serving.”

CCHS was set to host Caledonia on Tuesday of this week, before Pisgah pays its visit this coming Monday. The Lady Chargers will visit New Hope on Sept. 3.

There have been a couple changes to Choctaw County’s schedule. The Sept. 24 home match with Starkville has been cancelled, but CCHS is set to host both Pontotoc and New Hope on Oct. 6.
