Southern Company aims to be ‘A Citizen Wherever We Serve’

Southern Company Power Plant’s motto is “A Citizen Wherever We Serve”. Southern Company has been involved with the community quite a bit as of late showing that they are truly valuable citizens in Choctaw County.

The month of April saw volunteers from the plant help out in the Fishing Rodeo and recently painted the fire hydrants in Ackerman. Ackerman’s fire hydrants were practically camouflaged with all of the town’s greenery.

The helpful volunteers worked on the fire hydrants from April 20-21st scraping layers of green, orange, and red paint from previous paint jobs. After scraping the old colors, they began painting the fire hydrants back to its natural color of red.

Southern Company plans to do more community service this year by helping the elderly and reading to the children this summer.
