There will be a reunion of sorts of Choctaw County football players on Friday when Copiah-Lincoln Community College plays host to Itawamba Community College to open the Mississippi junior college football season on Thursday night.
The 7 p.m. kick-off will feature former Ackerman High School standout Quinton Lane and ex-FCA star Jesse Hosket suiting up for Itawamba, while ex-Ackerman Indian Trent Furr and former Choctaw County High School Chargers Paxton Sims and Trey Brown will ail be playing for Co-Lin.
Lane is set to anchor the ICC defense from his cornerback position, while Hosket is expected to see some action for the Indians at quarterback.
Holmes Community College is set to play host to Hinds Community College on Thursday as well, while East Mississippi Community College — the defending NJCAA National Champion — will open the 2014 campaign at Southwest Mississippi in Summit. EMCC has won two of the last three National Championships.
Jones County Junior College is set to visit Northwest Mississippi at 6:30 p.m. All other MACJC games — which includes East Central at Mississippi Delta, Coahoma traveling to Pearl River, and Gulf Coast playing host to Northeast Mississippi — are set to kick off at 7 p.m.
