Legislative Forum held

Approximately 20 citizens learned more about the recent legislative session from Senator Gary Jackson and Rep. Joey Hood during the Legislative Forum on June 17.
Sen. Gary Jackson summarized the legislative session in one sentence. “We deal with everything from the budget to wild hogs.”
He explained this further by discussing some bills that were passed by the legislature.

Rep. Joey Hood gave a more in-depth update of the recent legislative session by discussing some of the bills passed.
A few he mentioned included the teacher raises, funding a highway trooper school, passing the youth concussion bill, CPR now offered to high school students as an elective and more.
Hood also said he and Jackson worked together to pass the memorial highways bills for the late Phyllis Graham, Steven Moss, Anthony Lucas and Keith Crenshaw.
At the end of the forum, both Rep. Hood and Sen. Jackson answered questions from the audience.
The Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce sponsored the Legislative Forum.
