The 2014 football season will officially open locally on Aug. 22 when Choctaw County High School plays host to county rival French Camp Academy at 7 p.m. Last season CCHS traveled to FCA to win its first ever football game as a school by the score of 21-16.
The Panthers of FCA, looking to repeat as MHSAA Class 1A State Champions, has six home games on its schedule, beginning with an Aug. 29 game against Eupora.
Other homes games for FCA are: Noxapater, Sept. 12; East Oktibbeha, Oct. 3; Pelahatchie, Oct. 17; Ethel, Oct. 24; and the regular-season ender with Sebastopol on Nov. 7.
Road games other than the CCHS contest on the schedule for FCA are: Kemper County, Sept. 5; West Lowndes, Sept. 19; West Oktibbeha, Sept. 26; Starkville Academy, Oct. 10; and Nanih Waiya, Oct. 31.
Choctaw County, which reached the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs in its first season of competition, has six home games, including the season opener against French Camp.
The Chargers host North Pontotoc on Sept. 5, Union on Sept. 12, Choctaw Central on Oct. 10, Forest on Oct. 24, and closes out the regular season by hosting Philadelphia on Oct. 31.
Road games for CCHS are: Winona, Aug. 29; Houston, Sept. 19; Caledonia, Sept. 26; Raleigh, Oct. 3; and Southeast Lauderdale on Oct. 17.
All FCA and Choctaw County games are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
