CCHS athletes fare well in 3A State Track Meet

Choctaw County High School’s D.J. Riley led a contingent of five Chargers who competed in the MHSAA Class 3A State Track Meet on May 12 in Pearl by taking second in the boys 800 meters.
Riley posted a time of 2:04.02 in the event while teammate Willie Miller was third in the boys discus with a toss of 137 feet, 4 inches and Jamarcus Bradley was fourth in the boys long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 8.25 inches.
Qenjada Weeks was seventh in the girls 400 meters with a time of 1:05.35, while Shanice Cooks was eighth in the girls 100 meters with a time of 13:44.
The Choctaw County Boys finished 11th with 19 points, while the Lady Chargers were 16th in the girls division with four points.
Tylertown won the 3A boys title with 103 points, while Cleveland East Side was second with 99 points and Jefferson County was third with 71 points. Wilkinson County won the girls championship with 78 points, followed by Saint Andrews with 67 and Charleston with 52.50.
