County’s Riley wins 800 in South State

Five Choctaw County High School athletes placed in the top four in their individual events in the MHSAA Class 3A South State Track Meet on Saturday, qualifying them for the 3A State Meet to be held at Pearl High School on Monday.
D.J. Riley took first place in the boys 800 meters with a time of 2:03.87, while Shanice Cook, Qenjada Weeks, Willie Miller and Jamarcus Bradley also advanced to the MHSAA Class 3A State Track Meet. Miller finished second in the boys discus with a toss of 127 feet, 9 inches, while Bradley was second in the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 3 inches. Weeks was fourth in the girls 400 meters, while Cooks was fourth in the girls 100 meters.
Other CCHS athletes, their events and their finishes in South State are as follows: Bradley, fifth in high jump, sixth in 200 meters, and eighth in 100 meters; Kemmyon Williams, seventh in boys 200 meters; Yolanda Alston, fifth in girls 400 meters and eighth girls long jump; David Ramirez, sixth in boys 800 meters; Tre Brown, fifth in boys shot put; T.Q. Brown, sixth in boys triple jump; and Marquel Kennedy, eighth in boys triple jump.
The girls relay teams finished fifth in the 4×100, fifth in the 4×400, and eighth in the 4×200, while the boys relay teams took sixth in the 4×200 and eighth in the 4×400.
