New 20th Century Club members register for upcoming State Convention

The Ackerman Twentieth Century Club met on March 20, 2014 at the Choctaw County Library with eight members present. While the members enjoyed refreshments, provided by Chellie Cardone, the club members shared “Good Things”. Chellie then shared a meditation about teamwork, loyalty, friendship, and commitment. The club was lead in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Chellie Cardone shared the final details of the Wounded Warrior 5K run. Members were asked to be at the pavilion at 5:30 a.m. She informed the club that 49 runners had registered but was sure others would show up.

A reading committee was assigned to read the minutes. Correspondence from Donna McKay, GFWC-Mississippi Federation of Women’s club, and Nita Foust and the staff and Resident of Choctaw County Nursing Home. No treasury report was given.
President Shurden shared that the club submitted 22 reports and won 13 awards, 5 arts and crafts were submitted and all won awards. The club tied for second place overall club. The Community Improvement Project, Paws to Support the Choctaw County Animal Shelter, was submitted for judging.
Ackerman Twentieth Century club will serve as hostess for the Prayer Breakfast on Sunday morning for the MFWC convention. The club will be responsible for ten tables in addition to the head table. The décor will be red, white, and blue cross with burlap accents. Large crosses will be placed on the head table with God Bless America on them.
The club is also responsible for favors at the convention. A motion was made by Chellie Cardone to purchase silver key chains for the prayer breakfast. Belinda seconded the motion and the motion passed. President Shurden also shared that each club was responsible for door prizes. We could send $40 or bring 8 wrapped gifts. A motion was made by Tinker Forrester to send $40.00 to District 2 to go towards the purchase of door prizes to be given away at the convention. Jennifer Mize seconded and the motion passed.
The club discussed purchasing an ad in the program to support our local members. A motion was made to purchase a full page ad to feature the club members, Club Woman of the Year, LEADS, State Chaplin and Regional VP. There was a second and the motion passed. The club then adjourned.
