HCC Lady Bulldogs close out season with wins

The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs outscored the Mississippi Delta Community College Lady Trojans 16-2 in two games to end the regular season 16-25 overall and 11-13 in the North Division. Holmes won 7-1 and 9-1 last Thursday.
In game one, Katie Johnston picked up the win. She went seven innings and gave up one run on six hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Samantha Meadows led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits including a double. Taylor Jordan added a home run.
In game two, Brett Whitlock picked up the win. She went five innings and gave up one run on four hits striking out four and walking one. Johnston pitched the sixth inning and gave up one hit and struck out one. Michelle Gregory led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits while Meadows, Katherine Pennington and Kelsey Kelly added two hits. Tam Jenkins, Keana Wash, Meadows, Gregory, Kelly and Pennington each doubled.
A day earlier the Lady Bulldogs fell twice to the Northeast Mississippi Community College Lady Tigers, 3-2 and 10-2.
Johnston suffered the loss in the opener, going six innings and giving up just three runs on eight hits and striking out three. Gregory and Charneissa Gordon each had two hits with Gregory adding a double. Wash added a double.
In game two, Whitlock suffered the loss. Jordan led the Lady Bulldogs with two hits with Wash adding a double.

BASEBALL

The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell here twice Wednesday to the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers, 6-4 and 15-4, to go to 26-14 and 7-11 in the North Division.
In game one, Chad McNeil pitched in his first game of the season and suffered the loss. He went four innings and gave up four runs on five hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Jared Bailey went the rest of the way pitching five innings. He gave up two runs on four hits with five strikeouts and one walk. McNeil had two hits including a double while Terrell Hodges had a two-run homer.
In game two, Clyde Kendrick suffered the loss. He went 4.1 innings and gave up four runs on one hit with five strikeouts and three walks. Hunter Bull and Chase Chancellor also pitched in the game.
LaDerik Williams had a double.
