The Holmes Community College Bulldog baseball team went to 26-12 overall and 7-9 in the North Division after splitting two contests here Saturday with Itawamba Community College. Holmes won 11-10 in game one in 11 innings and fell 13-0 in five innings in game two.
With the split, the Bulldogs went to 26-12 overall and 7-9 in the North Division. Holmes was set to Northeast on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in a division doubleheader and then host Northwest at 2 p.m. Wednesday in a division doubleheader.
In game one, Deion Ulmer picked up the win for the Bulldogs. Ulmer, Kevin Barber and Cole Feazell each had three hits in the game. Feazell and Chad McNeil each homered while Cole McBride doubled. In game two, J.R. Hall suffered the loss. Holmes had no multiple hitters.
The Bulldogs also split a pair of games with EMCC last week.
Feazell struck out 15 East Mississippi Community College Lions in game one to help lead the Bulldogs to a 7-6 win in game one. East Mississippi won the nightcap 6-3.
In game one, Feazell went seven innings and gave up three runs on seven hits. He walked none in the game. Kyle Washington and Ulmer each had three hits with both players adding doubles. Terrell Hodges, Jason Hursey and Jaylan Bledsoe each had two hits.
In game two, Clyde Kendrick suffered the loss. He went 5.2 innings and gave up six runs on seven hits. Kendrick struck out nine and walked four and gave up two home runs to the Lions. McNeil, Bledsoe and Hursey each had a hit.
The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs suffered two heartbreaking losses here Friday to the Northwest Mississippi Community College Lady Rangers, 5-4 and 3-2 in eight innings.
With the losses, the Lady Bulldogs fell to 14-23 overall and 9-11 in the North Division. Holmes was scheduled Mississippi Delta on Monday in a 3 p.m. division doubleheader. The Lady Bulldogs end the regular season on Wednesday in a 1 p.m. division doubleheader.
In game one, Katie Johnston suffered the loss. She went 6.1 innings and gave up five runs on 12 hits with one strikeout and one walk. Samantha Meadows led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits while Charneissa Gordon added two. Meadows, Gordon and Taylor Jordan each had a double.
In game two, Brett Whitlock went 7.2 innings and gave up three runs on eight hits with three walks. Keana Wash, Tam Jenkins, Gordon and Jordan each had one hit with Jenkins and Jordan having a double.
The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs had their chances for at least a split against Itawamba last Wednesday, but the ICC Lady Indians had a late inning home run to pull out a 4-3 win in game two after winning game one 6-0.
In game one, Johnston suffered the loss in the complete game. She gave up six runs on nine hits and walked two. Wash and Gordon each had two hits. Michelle Gregory added a double.
In game two, Whitlock pitched the complete game and suffered the loss. She gave up four runs on 10 hits struck out two and walked two. Wash led the Lady Bulldogs with two hits.
The Lady Bulldogs wore pink in the game for Breast Cancer Awareness. All proceeds from the concession stand went to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
