The French Camp Academy Panthers entered this week needing to win just one of the two baseball games they had scheduled against Sebastopol to claim the region title.
FCA swept Ethel two weeks ago and then easily swept league foe McAdams in a doubleheader on Friday to move to 4-0 in league play to set up a showdown with Sebastopol on Tuesday and Thursday.
FCA head coach Nathan Wright said the sweep of Ethel two weeks ago was huge for his team. “That is about the biggest wins we have had around here in baseball,” Wright said. “I would put it right up there with that first win over Weir (in football). It was that big for us.”
Michael Erving and Luke McKnight each blasted homers for the Panthers in a 15-0 win over McAdams, while Hagan Box, Brady Jackson and Jeremy Lowery each picked up singles.
Colt Trehern and Brooks Warren pitched the first game for FCA, while Erving and Lowery teams up to shut out McAdams 16-0 in the second game.
Travis Henning, Austin Winemiller and Brooks Warren each doubled to lead the winners, while Logan Burchfield, Hunter McNight and Colin Perry picked up a single each.
FCA is 4-0 in league play, while Sebastopol is 3-1, Ethel is 1-3 and McAdams is 0-4.
