Music from local musicians, fun, food, arts and crafts, cash giveaways and much more will be features of the new Pine Tree Music Fest in Choctaw County.
Pine Tree Music Fest will be held the first Saturday in June (June 7) in downtown Ackerman.
The county’s annual festival received a boost of energy from the festival committee when they decided to re-create JuneFest earlier this year to help connect with the community and county.
A few of the JuneFest committee members attended the Back Stage Pass workshop where they learned to brand a festival to help draw people into your county and to connect with your community.
After the workshop, the full festival committee committed to re-creating the county festival to a day of fun that everyone could enjoy.
Pine Tree Music Fest was created to help promote Choctaw County’s rich musical heritage-past and present. The festival will feature all day long entertainment with some of the county and surrounding areas’ musicians and entertainers. The festival will end that night with a concert Choctaw County native Mark Box.
The festival committee decided to include pine tree into the name of the festival because timber is Choctaw County’s number one crop. It’s what the county is known for.
Pine Tree Music Fest will include fan favorite events such as the 5K Run/Walk, Pet Show, Car Show, Bingo, Kid’s World-now expanded, Arts and Crafts vendors, Farmer’s Market and the Treasure Alley.
Some of the new events include a fiddler’s contest, quilt show and cash giveaways.
Pine Tree Music Fest is sponsored by the Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce and participating sponsors.
