The French Camp Academy baseball team jumped out to a huge advantage in the race for the Region 6-1A title last week with a pair of wins over rival Ethel.
FCA took an 8-4 win on Tuesday, then used strong relief pitching from Luke McKnight on Thursday to take a 13-6 victory over the Tigers.
FCA was set to play a pair of district games with McAdams this week, hosting the Bulldogs on Tuesday and paying a visit to McAdams on Friday. After visiting Choctaw County for a non-league game on Saturday the Panthers are set to close out the regular season next week with region games at home against Sebastopol on April 15 and at Sebastopol on April 17.
Cole Henson ripped two doubles and a single and drove in six runs to lead FCA in the 8-4 win over EHS. Hagan Box smacked a double and single for the winners, while Colt Trehern had an RBI single.
Cole Henson picked up the win on the mound for French Camp, while Box came on to earn the save by striking out six in 2.1 innings of work. Henson recorded five strikeouts.
Thursday’s game saw FCA take an early 7-1 lead only to have the Tigers bounce back to go up 8-7. McKnight came in to shut down the Ethel hitters and French Camp kept their bats hot on the way to the 13-8 win. No individual hitting information was available for French Camp for this game.
FCA played host to Winona on Saturday, dropping an 8-1 decision, as the Tigers banged out 13 hits and a trio of Winona pitchers limited the Panthers to just two hits.
