Choctaw County Mississippi Homecoming for The Blackwood Brothers Quartet was held March 29.

Ackerman Mayor Dick Cain recognized Billy and Jimmy Blackwood, sons of James Blackwood of the original Blackwood Brothers Quartet, with two presentations on behalf of the Town of Ackerman.  The first presentation was a plaque recognizing their 80 years of spreading the love of God through song around the world. The second presentation was a framed proclamation honoring the influence of the quartet from Choctaw County by making March 29, 2014 as “The Blackwood Brothers Quartet Day” in the town of Ackerman..

Danny Irvin presents the framed House Concurrent Resolution NO. 79 to Billy and Jimmy Blackwood of the quartet, sons of James Blackwood who the co-founder of The Blackwood Brothers Quartet, on behalf of District 25 Rep. Joey Hood and District 15 Senator Gary Jackson.  The concurrent resolution celebrates the musical accomplishments and homecoming of The Blackwood Brothers Quartet and commends the quartet for their legacy and success as native sons of Mississippi.
