The Lady Chargers started the week off with another long ride toSoutheast Lauderdale for district action. In the JV game, Lizzie Thomas was on the mound for the Chargers. The Chargers defeated SE Lauderdale 10 – 1 in 3 innings. Allie Brown hit a single with 2 RBIs in the game.
In Varsity action, SE Lauderdale took an early 2 – 0 lead in the 1st inning and would extend the lead to 7 – 2 in the 2nd before the Lady Chargers took control of the game to defeat SE Lauderdale 8 – 7 in district play. Emily Robison was on the mound for 5 innings striking out 3 and Makenzie Toombs came in to close. Hits for the Chargers came from Kierra Fair and Makenzie Toombs with singles, Haley Lucas with a RBI double, and Brysa Maxwell went 3 for 3 with a bunt, a single, and a RBI double.
On Tuesday, April 1, the Lady Chargers were at home to host Louisvllle.
Emily Robison was on the mound for 7 full innings with 3 strikeouts and only giving up 1 hit in the game for a 11 – 2 victory. Kierra Fair, Emily Robison, Laiana Cork, Allie Brown and Lizzie Thomas all hit singles in the game, along with Makenzie Toombs with a triple. Brennan Power had a bunt and a single on the night.
In JV action after the varsity game, Lizzie Thomas as on the mound for 2 innings before bad weather hit and ended the game early. The Chargers defeated Louisville in 2 innings 15 – 0. Madison McClain had a single in the game and Halle Ruth Stevenson had a 3 RBI in the park home run for the Chargers.
On Thursday, April 3, the Chargers loaded the bus and hit the road to Philadelphia for another district game. In the JV game, the score remained 0 – 0 until the bottom of the 3rd inning, when Philadelphia finally scored a run and ended the game with a 1 – 0 loss for the Chargers.
In varsity action, the Lady Chargers were unable to score in the 1st inning. Makenzie Toombs was on the mound for the Chargers.
Philadelphia was able to put 3 runs on the board before Toombs struck 3 out in the inning. In the 2nd inning, the Chargers 1st 5 batters all drew walks and Allie Brown had an RBI single to make it a 3 – 2 game. Philadelphia would answer back with 2 more runs taking a 5 – 2 lead going into the 3rd. Philadelphia held the Chargers to no runs in the 3rd and 4th innings and added several more jumping to a 10 – 2 lead going into the 5th.
Brown led off in the 5th with a single, then the rest of the line up drew walks putting 6 runs on the board. Philadelphia scored 1 in the bottom
closing the gap to a 11 – 8 game. Toombs led off in the 6th with a walk and was the 1st of 5 runs for the Chargers. Abbie Paten, Brown and Kierra Fair all had RBI singles in the inning which put the Chargers on top 13 – 11. Philadelphia came back in the bottom ot the 6th and scored 2 on errors to tie the game. The Chargers were unable to score in the 7th with 2 runs left on base. Philadelphia lead off batter came to the plate and hit hard to the right field corner and scored on a in the parkl home run to end the hard fough game 14 – 13.
The Chargers will travel to Forrest on Monday, April 7 and play host to Raleigh on Thursday, April 10 in district play. Come out and support the Chargers.
