Circuit Court sentencing

Circuit Court in Choctaw County was held in February with several sentencing and one trial.

After selecting a new Grand Jury, the Grand Jury metfor one day in which they investigated one reported violation, questioned one witness and issued one indictment to the court.

Circuit Court 5th District Judge Clarence E. Morgan, III handed down the following sentences after the individual pled guilty:

-Jeffrey Cork was charged with felony driving under the influence. He pled guilty and was sentenced to 5 years to the Mississippi Department of Corrections with 4 years suspended for 4 years with 1 year to serve.

-Donald Wayne Howe was charged with Counts 1 and 2-burglary of a dwelling house and Count 3-burglary of a dwelling other than a house. He pled guilty to count 1 then counts 2 and 3 were dismissed. Howe was sentenced to 15 years to MDOC with 10 years suspended for 5 years with 5 years to serve and 5 years of probation. He was also ordered to pay $1,144 of restitution.

-Daven Bonjur Robinson was charged with felony grand larceny. He pled guilty and was sentenced to 5 years to MDOC with 5 years suspended for 5 years, no o time to serve and 5 years on probation. He was also ordered to pay $670 of restitution.

-Rio Digenero Batts was charged with felony grand larceny. He pled guilty and was sentenced to 5 years and 1 day to MDOC with 1 day to serve then to be placed on post release supervision for 5 years. He was also ordered to pay $670 restitution.

-Elizabeth Ann Clark was charged with felony fleeing law enforcement in a motor vehicle. She pled guilty and was sentenced to 5 years to MDOC with 2 years to serve and probation for three years. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $588. Clark was also sentenced to an additional 2 years to run concurrent to the first sentencing for felony fleeing of law enforcement in a motor vehicle.

-Areva Michelle Hoskins AKA Michelle Hoskins Dubose was charged with Count 1-insurance fraud and Count 2-wire fraud. She pled guilty and was sentenced on Count 1 to 3 years to MDOC with 3 years suspended for 3 years, Count 2-5 years to MDOC with 5 years suspended for 5 years and 5 years probation. She was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and restitution of $1,505.

-Mitzi Jackson was charged with 3 counts of felony directing a minor to commit a felony. She pled guilty to Count 1 and counts 2 and 3 were dismissed. Jackson was sentenced to 5 years to MDOC with 3 years suspended for 3 years. After serving 2 years she will be placed on intensive supervised probation for 2 years.

-Michael Sproles was charged with Count 1-auto burglary and Counts 2-5 burglary of a building other than a dwelling. He pled guilty to Counts 1 and 2. He was sentenced to 7 years to MDOC for Count 1 and Count 2 sentenced to 6 years and 1 day. After serving 1 day, he is to be placed on post release supervision for 6 years. Counts 3-5 were dismissed. Sproles was also ordered to pay restitution of $360.
