The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs went to 6-4 in the North Division and 11-14 overall with a sweep of the Mississippi Delta Community College Lady Trojans here Friday. Holmes won game one, 13-2, and game two, 18-0.
Katie Johnston picked up the win in game one pitching six innings. She gave up two runs on six hits striking out four and walking one. Katherine Pennington led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits including a double while Keana Wash, Kelsey Kelly, Charneissa Gordon, Samantha Meadows and Taylor Jordan each had two hits with Gordon adding a double. Michelle Gregory also had a double.
In game two, Brett Whitlock picked up the win. She went five innings and gave up two hits and struck out five. Gregory led the Lady Bulldogs with three hits including a double while Wash, Gordon, Jordan, Meadows and Karina Brown each had two hits with Wash adding a double and a home run, Jordan adding a home run and Brown having a double. Meadows also doubled.
The Previous Wednesday the Lady Bulldogs split a pair of games with Northwest Community College, losing the first game 3-2 and winning the nightcap 5-3.
In game one, Johnston suffered the loss. She went seven innings and gave up three runs on six hits with one strikeout and a walk. Kelly and Gregory each had two hits with Gregory adding a triple. Gordon added a double.
In game two, Brett Whitlock picked up the win. She went eight innings and gave up three runs on four hits striking out two and walking one. Keana Wash, Kelly and Taylor Jordan each had two hits. Kelly and Wash each had a double.
Holmes hosts Northeast on Tuesday in a 2 p.m. division doubleheader and then travels to Coahoma on Saturday for a 12 p.m. doubleheader.
The Holmes Community College Bulldogs split two games here Saturday with the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers falling in game one, 8-6, and winning game two, 9-4.
With the split, the Bulldogs went to 17-8 overall and 2-6 in the North. Holmes travels to Louisiana College on Wednesday for a doubleheader and then hosts Mississippi Delta on Saturday in a division doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
Clyde Kendrick suffered the loss for the Bulldogs in game one. Terrell Hodges led the Bulldogs at the plate with a homer while Jaylan Bledsoe and Chad McNeil each added a double.
In game two, Cole Feazell picked up the win. He went 4.5 innings and gave up two runs on three hits striking out four and walking one. Kevin Barber led the Bulldogs with three hits including a double while McNeil and Bledsoe each had two hits and Deion Ulmer added a double.
Last Tuesday HCC lost both end of a doubleheader to Itawamba 6-4 and 13-12.
In game one, McNeil had a home run while Hodges and Kyle Washington each doubled.
In game two, McNeil led the Bulldogs with three hits including two doubles while Bledsoe, Washington, Ulmer and Lucas Kirkland each had two hits. Ulmer had a double. Feazell added a double in the game.
