Are you interested in starting your own business, but don’t know where to begin? This seminar outlines the basic steps to start a business. Topics include: regulations such as licenses and permits; legal forms of business ownership; basic marketing concepts to help analyze the revenue potential; lending terminology; outline for a business plan and other resources to assist in starting a business. 4-H Plate Lunch Fundraiser
Choctaw County 4-H will have a Plate Lunch Fundraiser Monday, March 10 from 10:00-2:00 at the Ackerman Church of Christ. Dine in or take out. Delivery is available inside city limits of Ackerman. Brisket Plate $6, Spaghetti Plate $5, Hotdog Plate $4. To pre-order, call the Choctaw County Extension Office at 285-6337. Dawg Bites cookbooks are also available for $10.
American Legion Meets
The American Legion Post 82 and Auxiliary will meet Monday, March 10 at the American Legion Building in Ackerman. We will begin with a pot luck meal at 6 p.m. and will also celebrate the 95th birthday of the American Legion. Speaker will be Mr. Roy Pete of Collinsville, a member of the POW/MIA Committee of the American Legion. All members are encouraged to attend.
NAACP monthly meeting
The Choctaw County NAACP will meet Monday, March 17 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Herman Church in Ackerman. Everyone is invited to attend. The NAACP meets the third Monday of every month.

5K Run to benefit Wounded Warriors
GFWC 20th Century Club of Ackerman is sponsoring a 5K Run to benefit Wounded Warriors on Saturday, March 29 at 8am and a Kid’s Fun Run at 9am in downtown Ackerman. Historical Highlight Luncheon
The March French Camp Historical Highlight Luncheon will be Tuesday, March 11 at noon. This month’s speaker will be Joe Miller, FCA Class of 1970. His topic will be “French Camp Saved My Life!” It would be great to have alumni from the late 60’s – early 70’s, so ya’ll help get the word out and come on! Historical Highlight Luncheons are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month, featuring a speaker who shares some aspect of French Camp’s history and a delicious, home-cooked meal for a $2 donation.
