Noon-1 p.m. at Choctaw County Extension Office  (interactive video). Dr. Wayne Porter will discuss different grafting techniques and when to use them. Are grafted vegetables in your future? The public is invited to attend this free program. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Modifying Recipes
Feb. 21

Modifying Recipes will be presented Friday, February 21 at 10 am at the Choctaw County Extension Office. Pam Awad, Nutrition Educator, will teach how to make changes to recipes in regards to fat, salt and sugar so they are healthier. Bring a recipe you would like to modify. There is no charge to attend. Pastor Anniversary

MILLSPRING M.B.C., WEIR will be celebrating their 15-year pastor anniversary on February 23, at 3 p.m.  The speaker for this great event will be Pastor Clarence Buchanon, pastor of New Birth M.B.C. of Grenada. Come out and help us celebrate and show love to our Pastor and First Lady for 15 years of dedication and commitment Millspring M.B.C.  The Pastor is Dr. Vincent Coleman and the First Lady is Sis. Historical & Genealogical Society meeting
Feb. 24

Choctaw County Historical & Genealogical Society welcomes everyone to their monthly meeting on February 24 at noon.  Kevin Null, Attorney at Law – Ackerman, will be the guest speaker.  The meeting will be held in the Meeting Room at the Choctaw County Public Library.

Cyberbullying: What Can You Do About It?

Jamie Varner and Connie Templeton will discuss tips to address bullying and ways to recognize, research, and react to cyberbullying with students. The public is invited to attend this free program. CCHS Jr. & Sr. Prom Dues
Feb. 28

Each CCHS Jr. & Sr. must have their prom dues paid in full by Feb. 28 in order to attend prom. Junior class dues are $80 and senior dues are $20. Mrs. Beals at CCHS will issue a receipt once money is paid. Any junior or senior at CCHS who does not pay their class dues this year will not be allowed to use a date ticket and will not be admitted to prom so please be sure to get your money paid on time.

First Responders’ Dinner
Feb. 28

The Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce will host the third annual First Responders Appreciation Dinner on Friday, February 28 at the Community Center in Ackerman. Doors will open at 5:30pm, dinner at 6:30pm. Tickets are Chamber members – $10; Friends of the Chamber – $15; Children – 5-11 – $5; Children 5 and under – free. Tickets are available at the Chamber office, located on 55 East Quinn Street. Deadline to purchase your ticket is Friday, February 7th. 5K Run to benefit Wounded Warriors

GFWC 20th Century Club of Ackerman is sponsoring a 5K Run to benefit Wounded Warriors on Saturday, March 29 at 8am and a Kid’s Fun Run at 9am in downtown Ackerman. NAACP monthly meeting March 17

The Choctaw County NAACP will meet Monday, March 17 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Herman Church in Ackerman. Everyone is invited to attend. The NAACP meets the third Monday of every month.

NARFE Will Meet Feb. 27

The National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association will meet Thursday, February 27 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Starkville.  Doors open at 11 a.m. and lunch is served at 11:30.  February is Heart Month and Mrs. Liz Varco, RN from Oktibbeha County Hospital’s Cardiac Rehab, will present the program addressing Recent Advances in Heart Disease.
