The Choctaw County High School boys and girls basketball teams ail travel to Forest High School on Feb. 18 to play in the first round of the district tournament, but not before they close out regular season play this week with a pair of league contests.
The Chargers and Lady Chargers were scheduled to visit Philadelphia on Tuesday before host Southeast Lauderdale for Senior Night on Friday.
The Choctaw County boys dropped a 58-44 decision at Southeast Lauderdale last Monday, before losing to Choctaw Central 66-52 on Tuesday and 48-38 against Forest.
“We really are playing pretty well at times, but our youth and inexperience is hurting us,” said CCHS boys head coach Gary Beals. “It seems like it starts to kick in with about four or five minutes to play. That’s where it hurts us.”
The Chargers struggled a little at the free throw line against Southeast Lauderdale, hitting just six of 20 free throw attempts. Jamarcus Bradley and Trey Brown scored 13 points each for CCHS in the game.
Bradley had 20 and Danny Woodard 12 in the loss to Choctaw Central, while Bradley had eight and Woodard seven against Forest.
The Lady Chargers lost to Southeast Lauderdale 64-31, Forest 58-37 and Southeast Lauderdale 58-44. Brysa Maxwell scored 12 points for Choctaw County against SEL, while Shay Alston hit for 10 and Kierra Fair nine.
Maxwell scored 16 and Deidra Pratt seven against Choctaw Central, while Fair had 10 and Alston eight in the game against Forest.
