Mathiston’s 2013 Christmas Parade, which was held Dec. 14, was a huge success.

The theme for our parade was “A Christmas to Remember” and conjured up thoughts of Christmases past. Our first-place winner of $100 was Lindie Lou’s Snow Cone Stand, our second-place winner of $75 was Maben Church of God and our third-place winner of $50 was Mathiston First Baptist.

Congratulations to all of our winners. We want to thank everyone for participating in the parade and also thank those for braving the cold! Happy New Year to everyone from the Civic League of Mathiston.

The Civic League of Mathiston cooked, served and delivered around 40 plates filled with yummy Christmas foods in the month of December to the elderly and shut-ins in the Mathiston area. We had ham, dressing, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, rolls and several different yummy cakes. Along with the plate lunches, we also passed out around 40 fruit baskets.

We would like to thank those at the Mathiston Food Center for allowing us to come. We all had such a good time fellowshipping with everyone and look forward to doing it again in 2014.
