Choctaw County basketball teams looking toward 2014

After using the 2013 portion of the season to gain experience and build continuity the Choctaw County High School basketball teams are looking forward to returning to the court on Tuesday (Jan. 7) when they play host to Ethel.

After the games against EHS, Choctaw County will visit Nanih Waiya on Jan. 10 and then begin region play by hosting Raleigh on Jan. 14. Also playing in the same region with CCHS this season will be Choctaw Central, Forest, Philadelphia and Southeast Lauderdale.

The CCHS boys are currently 5-5 on the year, having closed out 2013 with a 60-51 win over Ethel. The Chargers have wins over Hamilton (73-54), Ethel (45-42 and 60-51) J.Z. George (52-49), and Nanih Waiya (60-38) and are currently on a two-game winning streak.

The CCHS boys have lost to Montgomery County (73-51 and 61-51), Caledonia (59-39), Winona (66-43), and Eupora (54-49).

The Lady Chargers have posted wins over Montgomery County (63-25 and 63-61), and Ethel (57-48 and 29-27). The CCHS girls, currently 4-7 on the year, have lost to Durant (57-23), Hamilton (48-41), Caledonia (29-18), J.Z. George (43-23), Winona (56-38), Eupora (54-49) and Nanih Waiya (39-25).
