DYW Meet and Greet Jan. 5
Preparations for the Choctaw County Distinguished Young Woman Program are underway. The Twentieth Century Club of Ackerman sponsors the program, which will be held March 15 at the Ty Cobb Complex.
If you are a high school junior girl who excels in the classroom, has a special talent, is physically fit, serves the community, and sets goals, then the Choctaw County DYW Program is looking for you! All high school junior girls in Choctaw County are invited to participate in this year’s “USA” themed program.
Junior girls, along with a parent(s), wishing to participate in the local program should attend a “Meet and Greet” on January 5 at 2 p.m. at the Choctaw County Library. If you have any questions, please contact Ginny Lucas at 547-6066.
Book Selections for January 7 and February 4
Yarn Spinners Book Club gets together the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30-12:00 noon at the Choctaw County Extension Office in Ackerman. Upcoming book selections will be Knit the Season: A Friday Night Knit Club Novel by Kate Jacobs on January 7th and The Book of Bright Ideas by Sandra Kring on February 4th. Fantabulous Me National Pageant
The Fantabulous Me National Pageant will be held Saturday, January 18 at the Choctaw County High School at the Ty Cobb Complex Auditorium – 599 East Church Street – Ackerman. There will be 10 Divisions For Girls: Baby Miss 0-15 months, Toddler Miss 16-23 months, Teeny Miss 2-3 Years, Little Miss 4-5 Years, Young Miss 6-8 Years, Pre –Teen Miss 9-11 Years, Junior Miss 12-14 Years, Teen Miss 15-17, Miss 18 & Up Single (Never Married or Pregnant) and Ms/Mrs. (18 & Older Married, Single Or Divorced – with or without children) We reserve the right to split a group that becomes too large – we will never combine groups. We keep groups to 10 contestants and below. This pageant is for anyone with or without pageant experience! With 40 or more contestants will award our Ultimate Grand Supreme with $1000! With less than 40 contestants we will award $500 to our Ultimate Grand Supreme. This is an ALL CROWN PAGEANT! Every contestant will receive a beautiful crown! Great prizes awarded as well PLUS chances to sell 50-cent sponsor tickets and earn more prizes and get your entry fee paid! Deadline fast approaching – don’t delay. Plaindealer Office closed for New Year’s
The Choctaw Plaindealer office will be closed Wednesday, January 1 for the New Year’s Day. We will re-open at 8 a.m., Thursday, January 2.
