Christmas events coming to the county

The Town of Ackerman will celebrate Christmas and the meaning of the holiday with its annual Christmas Parade.

The Town of Ackerman Christmas will be Thursday, December 5 at 6 p.m. in downtown Ackerman.

This year’s theme will be Christmas Blessings-Unity in the Community. Floats are encouraged to incorporate the theme in each float. Floats will be awarded in several catergories the night of the event.

A silent auction will also be held as part of the Christmas holidays celebrations with items available for viewing and bids beginning at 9 a.m., December 4 at Town Hall. All benefits from this auction will be going to the Choctaw County Nursing Home Auxiliary.

Holiday Open House set for Dec. 12

The Choctaw County Holiday Open House and Santa visit is set for Thursday, December 12 from 2:30 p.m.-6 pm at the Choctaw County Library.

Everyone is invigted to bring a camera and take pictures with Santa.

Other events for the day include MSU ice cream samples, make and take crafts for kids, Festival of Trees, musical entertainment throughout the day, recipes, goodie bags, and door prizes.

Area authors will have their new books available. Whitney White’s new book, Who Left Jesus in the Box, just came out in November and signed copies will be available for purchase.

Merle Temple will be present to sign copies of his book, A Ghostly Shade of Pale.

Bring non-perishable food items and help Pack-the-Trailer for the WTVA Food for Families Food Drive which will benefit Broken Wings Ministries.
