Holmes CC men move to 5-2 with big win

The Holmes Community College Bulldogs picked up their fifth win of the season Thursday night to improve to 5-2 overall with an 82-67 win over the Hinds Community College Bulldogs.

Holmes had four players in double figures with Dayshawn Watkins leading the way with 20 points. Justin McCleary had 15 points all on three-pointers while Marcus Washington added 13 and Tamarico Wilson had 12. Patrick Banks led with 12 rebounds.

Holmes led 42-34 at halftime and then pulled away at the end to its largest lead at 15 points.

The Holmes Lady Bulldogs picked up their second win of the season with a 68-64 win over Hinds to move to 2-5 on the year.

Holmes had two players in double figures as Carmesha Nalls had 19 and Tayanna Purnell 14. Taylor Johnson led Holmes 14 rebounds in the game.

Holmes led 29-25 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs increased the lead to 11 points with 5:30 left to play before Hinds battled back.

Holmes returns to action on Monday, Dec. 2 against Southwest Mississippi Community College in Goodman. The game can be watched at holmesathletics.ihigh.com.
