Christmas Trees needed for Holiday Open House

From press reports

It’s that time of the year again.

Our annual Holiday Open House is scheduled for Thursday, December 12 at the Choctaw County Library.

We would like businesses along with school groups, church groups and other organizations in the county to decorate Christmas trees for our Festival of Trees. Each group is responsible for securing their own tree, live or artificial.

The Library requests that no food items or glitter be used in decorations. Trees should be up by noon on December 11 and removed by January 3.  Certificates will be awarded for: People’s Choice Award, People’s Choice Award – School Tree and Best Handcrafted Tree.

This is a good way to showcase your business or organization. In 2012, almost 400 youth and adults attended Holiday Open House.

Other events for the day include Santa, make and take crafts for kids, MSU ice cream samples, goodie bags and recipes will be given out, musical entertainment and more.

Author Merle Temple will be on hand to sign his newest book, A Ghostly Shade of Pale.  Author Whitney White will also have her newest children’s book, Who Left Jesus in the Box, available for purchase.

Holiday Open House is sponsored by the Choctaw County Extension Office and Choctaw County Library. If your organization would like to display a Christmas tree, contact Juli Hughes by November 25  at 285-6337 or by email jhughes@ext.msstate.edu.
