Colton wins big at State Championship

Colton Mewbourn, age 8, of Ackerman, competed on September 8 at the Equine Center in Jackson in the state championship.

Colton competes in the Beginner Poles and Barrels 8 and under. In this class, at the state championship, he won Pole Class winning the state championship winning a trophy almost bigger than he is. Colton continued to place third in Beginners Barrels.

He competed in both categories on his pony called Sugar Bear. She is a black pony and Colton loves to ride her.

This is his last year to compete in the Beginners class. What a great way to end the year.

Colton wants to thank everyone who helped home go to state finals.

Colton is a member of the MEHSA where he competes in Poles, Barrels and Arena Races.

He also competes in bull riding. His dream is to become a world champion bull rider.

Colton is now competing in the Little Britches Rodeos where he rides in barrels, poles and goat tying.

His parents are Carroll and Kristi Mewbourn of Ackerman and his grandparents are Lyn and Liz Black of McCool.
