Young welcome reception held

Family, friends, and residents of Choctaw County recently helped welcome Kasey Burney Young to town.

The Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce held a welcome reception for Burney on October 22.

Burney, a native of Choctaw County, opened her law practice at 533 South Louisville Street in Ackerman.

Young is the first female attorney to practice in Choctaw County according to county historians. She will be a general practice attorney serving the needs of all residents in the county. Young has grown up watching her uncle Judge Joseph H. Loper, District 5 Circuit Court Judge, work and serve in Choctaw County.

Young is married to Andy Young and is the daughter of Carol Lindley of Ackerman and Bill Burney of Batesville. She is the granddaughter of Harold and Ouida Loper and W.C. and Happy Burney. She is a graduate of Ackerman High School, Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi School of Law.
