Make plans to attend Jack-O-Lantern-Jam this Saturday in downtown Ackerman.
Jack-O-Lantern Jam will be Saturday, October 26 from 4 – 8 p.m. in downtown Ackerman at the walking track and the parking lot on Main Street.
Jack-O-Lantern Jam will feature a trunk or treat, carnival games, pumpkin decorating contest, a movie and more.
The trunk or treat and carnival games will open to the public at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 26. Set up for trunk or treat and the carnival games will begin at 3 p.m. All participants must register prior to the event with the Chamber of Commerce. You can call 662-285-3788 for a registration form.
There are many family fun activities planned for the evening, starting with the pumpkin carving/decorating contest hosted by the MSU Extension Service – Choctaw County. Participants must bring their pumpkin already carved or decorated with them to the walking track at 4 p.m. Adults and children can participate in the contest.
The Scarecrow Trail is back at the walking track this year. At Jack-O-Lantern Jam the public will be able to vote for their favorite scarecrow. The scarecrow trail is sponsored by MSU Extension Service – Choctaw County.
As the sun begins to set after 6 p.m. an outdoor cartoon will be shown at the walking track on a large movie screen. Bring your chairs and blankets to enjoy a Scooby Doo episode. The movie will be shown multiple times until the event ends at 8 p.m.
There will be food vendors set up selling hamburgers, hot dogs and nachos and snacks for the family to enjoy while watching the cartoon.
Participants attending Jack-O-Lantern are encouraged to park south of the railroad tracks. Parking will be available on Quinn Street and around and behind the courthouse. Please try to avoid parking on Main Street.
In the case of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Choctaw County Community Center on College Street in Ackerman.
If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help with the event please call the Chamber of Commerce at 662-285-3778.
