Twelve Choctaw County High School FFA members attended the Mississippi FFA State Convention on June 3-5, 2013. “Grow” was the theme for the convention this year. Choctaw County High School FFA members in attendance were: Alex Ivy, Philip Evans, Macie Cook, Samantha Reed, John South, Abby Wood, Kayleigh Nickels, Hayley Thomas, Alyssa Pritchett, Andy Robison, Samantha Makamson, and Johnny Douglas.
Johnny Douglas, Andy Robison, Macie Cook, Samantha Makamson, Alex Ivy, and Philip Evans competed in the Cooperative testing program. Members took a test on information about Cooperatives. The six members that scored the highest from each of the three districts in MS received free registration for Summer Leadership Camp. For the Central District, all six members were from Choctaw County High School!
Philip Evans competed in 9th Grade Creed and received 4th place. John South, Abby Wood, Kayleigh Nickels, Hayley Thomas, Alyssa Prichett, Andy Robison, and Samantha Makamson competed in Opening and Closing and received 2nd Place. Hayley Thomas competed in Job Interview and received 4th place. Andy Robison competed in Extemporaneous speaking and received 3rd place. Johnny Douglas competed in Prepared Public Speaking and received 3rd place.
Samantha Reed, Alex Ivy, Philip Evans, and Macie Cook all served as Courtesy Corp members and were recognized on stage for their assistance with State Convention. Alyssa Pritchett served as the Nominating Committee Chairperson and worked with eight other FFA members from across the state to choose the 2013-2014 State FFA Officers.
Choctaw County High School FFA had a great time participating in the 2013 State FFA Convention!
