Chester business meeting Oct. 3
There will be a business meeting at the Chester Community Center, Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 7 p.m.
Mount Pisgah Baptist Church will have Homecoming services on October 6 at 10:45 a.m. Services will feature Singing, Preaching, Dinner on the Grounds.
Providence Baptist Church will have a Revival on October 6 – 9. Sunday Services will be 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. with services nightly starting at 7 p.m. Rev. T.J. Jennings will be bringing the message and song service will be delivered by Bill Taylor.
4-H Pet Club to meet Oct. 7
The Choctaw County 4-H Pet Club will meet Monday, October 7 at 6 pm in the 4-H Building (old Prairie Opportunity building across the street from the Library) in Ackerman. Preparing for Holiday Photos
Learn about “Shooting a Better Portrait” including backgrounds, clothing choices, mergers, lighting and other tips to help you and your family look their best. French Camp Harvest Festival
French Camp, MS. Features a grand auction of homegrown and handcrafted items beginning at 9:30 AM in the French Camp Academy gymnasium. Quilts, pottery, woodcrafts, produce, artwork, and jewelry are some of the items for auction. The Country Store features more of the same already priced. Concessions are available. At noon the auction stops for dinner on the grounds behind the FCA dining hall, and resumes at 1:00.
Craft demonstrators, musicians, and concessions will be available in the Natchez Trace Historic District, also.

Annual Beauty Pageant-Mathiston
The Civic League of Mathiston has planned their annual beauty pageant, Miss and Mister Mathiston All Crown Pageant, for Saturday, October 12. The pageant will begin at 2 PM with the doors opening at noon and it will be held in the auditorium at Wood College. The attire is formal wear for from ages 0 and on up. There are 10 age divisions and everyone receives a beautiful crown (boys receive a gift comparable in price)! The entry fee is $35 and includes ALL side events except Most Photogenic. Contestants do not have to live in Mathiston/Webster County to participate. The descendants of Ben and Annie Franks King will hold their annual reunion on Sunday, October 13 at the Chester Community Center. All family and friends are invited to attend. Bring a covered dish, join everyone for lunch and enjoy the fellowship!

Pastor Appreciation Celebration Oct. 19

Digital Camera Workshop

Organizations, businesses, churches and individuals are encouraged to have a family-friendly scarecrow in the Scarecrow Trail. Entries should be turned in October 21 from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at the Walking Track on Main Street in Ackerman. Scarecrows will be on display through the end of October. Jack-O-Lantern Jam will be from 4 -8 p.m. on Saturday, October 26 in Downtown Ackerman. Participants are needed to participate in trunk or treat, set up carnival games and food booths. The Golden Triangle Civil War Round Table meets Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m., in the Conference Room, Golden Triangle Planning and Development Building, 106 Miley Road, Starkville. Please park and enter at the rear of the building. Speaker Tom Parsons, Corinth Interpretive Center, National Park Service, will discuss “Contraband.”
