Ackerman Twentieth Century Club implements special project

GFWC Ackerman Twentieth Century Club has implemented a special “Back to School Blast Off” project this year due to consolidation of the two county high schools.

The Club helped sponsor a free Back to School Movie night at the amphitheater in the Tom Glasgow Park and volunteered to work the concession stand.

During the Club’s August 22nd meeting, the Club members prepared eighty plus teacher treat bags that were delivered to the Choctaw County High School on Friday, August 23rd. Jo Anne Reid, Belinda Vowell and Donna McKay handed out these treat bags which included an apple and cracker snack, along with a cold beverage, to all high school teachers and staff to show appreciation for all they do for our students. Treat bags were also delivered to the Career and Technology Center and the Choctaw County Central Office staff.

The Club members have donated approximately $150 in school supplies to be delivered to the local elementary school.

Our HOBY representative for this past May/June, Caitlyn Allen, was present at the Club’s first meeting of the new year and she reported on her experience at our state HOBY this summer.

Jo Anne Reid, Education Program and Partnership Chairman stated, “We are proud to support Education and have only twelve members, but they sure do work hard!”
