From Press Reports

The Hugh Gibson Family Scholarship continues to assist Webster and Choctaw County students secure a college education at Holmes Community College.

Since 1992, the Gibson Family Scholarship has been granted to a Webster or Choctaw County resident on an annual rotating basis to fund his/her education at any of the three school locations. Because of excellent handling by Holmes, the original Gibson donation and subsequent family gifts, the funds are now double the amount of the gifts.

The requirements for the award are residency in Webster or Choctaw County and at least a “B” average of grades. The award was originated by the Hugh Gibson family of Eupora. His wife, Mary Jane, and daughter, Jill, also attended Holmes, where Jill was a cheerleader. The family also includes daughter Judy Gibson Duncan; son Jonathan M. Gibson and wife, Jennifer Gibson; and grandchildren Sara Grace Duncan, Elzey W. Gibson and Elam O. Gibson.
