One day before its football team kicks off the 2013 season at home against Choctaw County High School, French Camp Academy will be hosting “Meet The Panthers” night.

“We are really hoping for a big turnout,” said Tonya Barlow, the FCA cheerleaders’ sponsor said of the special night. “There is no charge to attend, but we will have a lot of souvenir items on sale.”

Weather shouldn’t be a factor in the event, as it will be held at the FCA Gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22.

All of the fall sports teams will be in attendance and will be introduced, including varsity football, junior high football, slow-pitch softball, cross-country, high school cheerleading and junior high cheerleading.

Among the items being sold will be game day t-shirts, yard flags, car magnets and car window decals.

After hosting CCHS on Friday, Aug. 23 to open the 2013 football season, the Panthers visit Eupora on Aug. 30 before hosting Kemper County on Sept. 6.

FCA then opens Region 3-1A play on Sept. 13 by paying a visit to Noxapater.

The slow-pitch softball team opens its regular season in the Lady Whippet Classic in Kosciusko this Saturday.

No schedule has been released for the cross-country team, which is the defending MHSAA Class 1A State Champion.
