My name is Joyce Bean and I am trying to locate my relatives the “Jordans” who were related to my mother, Mary Jean Jordan. My mother was married and took the last name of my father Elaine Bean. Common Plants for Medicinal Uses
Common Plants for Medicinal Uses will be presented August 8 from 12:00 – 1:00pm at the Choctaw County Extension Office in Ackerman by interactive video. Lindsay Wilson, Wellness Coach, Yoga Teacher, Intuitive and Community Herbalist, will discuss ways to remedy stomach upset, diarrhea, constipation, and inflammation with herbs. She will go over simple teas and tinctures in this workshop using native and garden herbs. The public is invited to attend this free program. You are welcome to bring your lunch. The VFW will meet Saturday, August 10 at 9:30 a.m. at Cagle’s Corner in Ackerman. They meet the second Saturday of each month.

The NAACP of Choctaw County will meet August 19 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Church in Ackerman. New members are welcome. The NAACP meets the third Monday of every month.
Stewart Fire Dept. will host a Gospel Singing on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. The groups that will be taking part in the singing are: Little River, Voices of Faith, Family Tradition and Heavenly Journey. Back to School Movie Night
A Back to School Movie Night will be hosted by the Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce on Friday, August 16 at the amphitheater at Tom Glasgow Park in Ackerman. Grand Opening of Hospital
A Grand Opening Celebration will be held at Pioneer Community Hospital of Choctaw on Tuesday, August 20 from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. An official program will be held at 5:30 p.m. in front of the hospital.
