The Lucky 13 4-H Club

The Lucky 13 4-H Club is selling chances on gift cards as a fundraiser. They have nine gift cards from area businesses and restaurants. Chances are $1 each or 6 for $5 and may be purchased at the Choctaw County Extension Office or from a club member. Money raised will help support club activities, contest fees and meeting supplies. My name is Joyce Bean and I am trying to locate my relatives the “Jordans” who were related to my mother, Mary Jean Jordan. My mother was married and took the last name of my father Elaine Bean. Revival

July 28-August 2

Clear Springs Baptist Church would like to invite you to their revival from July 28-August 2. Service will begin each night at 7 p.m. Bro. Kenneth Reaves will be bringing the messages. Bro. Jim Rhodes is pastor.

Farmer’s Market

Aug. 2

The Choctaw County Farmers Market will be held Friday, August 2 in downtown Ackerman from 8:00am until noon.  Children are invited to come and make a Garden in a Glove. For information, call the Choctaw County Extension Office at 285-6337.

Back to School Field Day

August 3

The 5th Annual Back to School Field Day will be held on August 3 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Tom Glasgow Park in Ackerman. All school-aged children along with their parents are invited to come out and enjoy unlimited fun and lots of games and activities. Parents, make sure an adult is with your child to sign the consent form to participate. Free school supplies, books and food will be given away. Revival at New Haven Baptist

Aug. 4-7

Revival at New Haven Baptist Church, 6690 Stewart-Weir Road, August 4 – 7, 7 p.m. each evening. Rev. Wayne Hudson, Evangelist, will be preaching and Mr. Chris Jenkins, Ackerman Baptist Church, is in charge of the music. Everyone is invited to attend.

Book Club to meet

Yarn Spinners Book Club will meet Tuesday, August 6 from 10:30 until noon at the Choctaw County Extension Office in Ackerman.  A Dangerous Silence, by Catherine Palmer, is this month’s selection. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call 285-6337.

Common Plants for Medicinal Uses

Aug. 8

Common Plants for Medicinal Uses will be presented August 8 from 12:00 – 1:00pm at the Choctaw County Extension Office in Ackerman by interactive video.  Lindsay Wilson, Wellness Coach, Yoga Teacher, Intuitive and Community Herbalist, will discuss  ways to remedy stomach upset, diarrhea, constipation, and inflammation with herbs. She will go over simple teas and tinctures in this workshop using native and garden herbs. The public is invited to attend this free program. You are welcome to bring your lunch. NAACP meeting

The NAACP of Choctaw County will meet August 19 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Church in Ackerman. New members are welcome. The NAACP meets the third Monday of every month.

Gospel Singing

Sept. 27

Stewart Fire Dept. will host a Gospel Singing on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. The groups that will be taking part in the singing are: Little River, Voices of Faith, Family Tradition and Heavenly Journey.
