Ackerman Elementary School ready

By Glen Blaine, AES principal

I want to welcome everyone back to a new school year and hope that everyone had a wonderful summer break.

We will hold our Open House on Tuesday, August 6th from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. All parents and students are invited to attend and may bring their school supplies to their homeroom during the event. There will be tables in the hall by the office to check homeroom, check bus routes, sign up for After School Program, and PTO sign up sheets.

The first day of school will be on Thursday, August 8th.

A few important items:

• DIFFERENT DROP OFF TIME…Students should arrive to Ackerman Elementary between 7:30 and 7:50. Instruction begins quickly and a tardy student interrupts the classroom setting.

• The afternoon car rider line bell is at 2:50 and the students are loaded as quickly as possible. arents should not come into the building to check students out at the end of the day to avoid the car rider line. If you do not like to wait, I recommend that you arrive at around 2:55 to 3:00.

• If your child needs to change their normal transportation routine, you must send a note with the date or come into the office and fill out a request. (Ex. – A note must be provided if a child is changing from the bus to a car rider or if a bus rider is getting off at grandmother’s house instead of their house. We cannot take phone request for transportation changes.)

• All visitors must report to the office. (If you are not an Ackerman Elementary School employee, you must report to the office once you enter campus.)

•Parents will be allowed to walk their child to their classroom during the first two weeks of school. After August 16th, parents will not be allowed to walk their child to class. There are many staff members on duty throughout the building to assist students.

We had a very productive year during the 2012-2013 school year and I look for the 2013-2014 school year to be even better. The education of every child is a priority at Ackerman Elementary School and with help from each parent/guardian, there is no limit as to what can be accomplished.

Please contact the school at 285-4052 if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Glen C. Blaine
