The Lucky 13 4-H Club raffle

The Lucky 13 4-H Club is selling chances on gift cards as a fundraiser. They have nine gift cards from area businesses and restaurants. Chances are $1 each or 6 for $5 and may be purchased at the Choctaw County Extension Office or from a club member. Money raised will help support club activities, contest fees and meeting supplies. All About Bees

July 25

Dr. Jeff Harris, Associate Extension/Research Professor, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Entomology and Plant Pathology, will share information on bees and beekeeping including an overview of bees, problems with bees and other pollinators, and the economic value of bees to agriculture. It will be held Thursday, July 25 from 12:00-1:00pm by interactive video at the Choctaw County Extension Office – Courthouse Annex in Ackerman. The public is invited to attend this free program.  Feel free to bring your lunch.

 

Cooking Workshops for youth

July 25

This is the last of three cooking workshops for youth that will be held this summer at the Choctaw County Extension Office. The Incredible Edible 5 food groups are for youth 6-9 years of age. It will be held July 25 from 10-11:00 am at the Choctaw County Extension Office.  We will make learn how to build a healthy plate, prepare an incredible edible 4 food-group parfait and do fun activities. Kinfolk Family Reunion

July 25

Gardening in a Glove at Farmers Market July

July 26

The Choctaw County Farmers Market will be held Friday, July 26 from 8 am -noon at the corner of Main and Commerce Streets in Ackerman. A Gardening in a Glove workshop for children will be held between the hours of 9-11 am. Make a glove garden, take it home and watch it grow. No charge. South Union Campmeeting

July 26-31

Pastor Ed Saunders and the members of South Union United Methodist Church invite you to the 141st Campmeeting at South Union Campground beginning Friday evening, July 26 through Wednesday, July 31. The Camp Meeting preacher is Rev. George Buell with Buddy and Carol Smith serving as song leaders and Janees Garey as the pianist. There are 4 worship services each day – 8 & 11 am and 3 & 7 pm. Special music for evening services include; Saturday – Southern Image Quartet, Sunday – Joyful Noise Quartet, Monday – Buddy Smith, Tuesday – Wells Brothers Quartet, and Wednesday – Ackerman Church of God Praise & Dance Team. Back to School Field Day

August 3

The 5th Annual Back to School Field Day will be held on August 3 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Tom Glasgow Park in Ackerman. All school-aged children along with their parents are invited to come out and enjoy unlimited fun and lots of games and activities. Parents, make sure an adult is with your child to sign the consent form to participate. Free school supplies, books and food will be given away. Revival at New Haven Baptist

NAACP meeting

The NAACP of Choctaw County will meet August 19 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Church in Ackerman. New members are welcome. The NAACP meets the third Monday of every month.

 

Gospel Singing

Sept. 27

Stewart Fire Dept. will host a Gospel Singing on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. The groups that will be taking part in the singing are: Little River, Voices of Faith, Family Tradition and Heavenly Journey. Hebron Christian School Reception for New Headmaster July 28

A reception will be held to introduce Mr. Jonathan Harper, new headmaster of Hebron Christian School. Hebron Baptist Church will host the reception in the school’s library on July 28, 2013, from 2-4. The public is invited to attend.
