By Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce
Although JuneFest just wrapped up for the Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce, it’s time to start planning for fall activities in Choctaw County. There will be a Trunk or Treat planning meeting on Tuesday, July 16, at noon at the J.P. Coleman Building on 55 East Quinn Street.
After the success of last year’s Trunk or Treat, the Chamber of Commerce would like to expand on the event. Lara Bowman, Chamber of Commerce Director stated, “I hope this year’s Trunk or Treat will have a fall festival atmosphere with multiple activities taking place for families.”
Any church, school group, or organization interested in selling food or bake goods or hosting a carnival activity are asked to attend the planning meeting or contact the Chamber of Commerce. Fall festival activities like bobbing for apples, a cake walk or costume contest could be hosted by different organizations at the event to raise money.
The Chamber has received lots of feedback and ideas from last year, but can only accomplish and make the event a success with volunteers. Eighteen businesses and organizations participated in Trunk or Treat last year passing out candy.
The winners of the best decorated trunks last year were Ackerman Discount Drug and Ackerman Twentieth Century Club. Both of these groups are already planning on how they will decorate their trunks to keep their trophy again this year!
If you are unable to attend the planning meeting, but would like to help plan an evening of fall festival activities for Choctaw County families, please contact Lara Bowman at 662-285-3778 or email@example.com.
