VBS at New Haven Baptist

July 7-11

VBS at New Haven Baptist Church, 6690 Stewart-Weir Road begins Sunday, July 7, at 6 p.m.-8 p.m. and continues through Thursday night with commencement on Friday at 6 p.m.  Join the stampede for a rip-roaring time with Jesus at the SonWest Roundup!

Bluff Springs Baptist revival

July 7-10

Bluff Springs Baptist Church in Choctaw County will have revival services at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. July 7, and July 8-10 at 7 p.m. The Rev. Allen Robinson, pastor of Rosedale Baptist Church, will be the visiting speaker.

VBS at Providence Baptist July 7-10

Providence Baptist Church invites children to Vacation Bible School on July 7-10 from 5:30 p.m.-8:15. This year’s theme is Colossal Coaster. For more information call Michelle Carr at 705-1878.

Ladies Auxiliary

July 9

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary meets the second Tuesday of each month. Their meeting will be held July 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the 4-H Building.

Farmer’s Market

July 12

The Choctaw County Farmers Market will be held Friday, July 12 beginning at 8 am at the corner of Main and Commerce Streets in Ackerman. Free items to the first 50 people! Free recipes! Vendors wanting to sell fresh fruits, vegetables, honey, plants or flowers should contact the Choctaw County Extension Office (285-6337) for a vendor application.

Mayo Family Reunion July 13

Descendants of Stephen D. Mayo and Fanny Joiner Mayo are invited to a reunion of any family members on July 13 at Lake Tiak O’Khata in Louisville. This includes Nance, Chancellor, Whitten, Mitchell, Shaw, Wiley and many other families. Please notify Winston Hayes by July 10 at 662-779-2124 if you plan to attend.

Joyful Noise Quartet in concert

July 14

The Joyful Noise Quartet of Ackerman will be in concert at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church on Sunday, July 14 at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the concert. The church is located at Bradley. Just turn left at the sign. Everyone is invited to attend.

NAACP meeting

July 15

The NAACP of Choctaw County will meet April 15 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Church in Ackerman. New members are welcome. The NAACP meets the third Monday of every month.

Cooking Workshops for youth July 18

This is the second of three cooking workshops for youth that will be held this summer at the Choctaw County Extension Office. Ole’ beans Ole’ is for youth 6-9 years of age. It will be held July 18 from 10-11 am at the Choctaw County Extension Office. We will make Ole’ frijoles (bean dip), discuss different beans and how they are used, bean bag toss, microwave safety & more. Cooking Workshops for youth July 25

This is the last of three cooking workshops for youth that will be held this summer at the Choctaw County Extension Office. The Incredible Edible 5 food groups are for youth 6-9 years of age. It will be held July 25 from 10-11:00 am at the Choctaw County Extension Office.  We will make learn how to build a healthy plate, prepare an incredible edible 4 food-group parfait and do fun activities. Kinfolk Family Reunion July 25

Old Lebanon Campmeeting

July 19 -24

The annual Campmeeting at Old Lebanon Presbyterian Church will begin Friday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will continue through Wednesday, July 24, with services each day at 7 a.m., 11 a.m., and 7:30 p.m. The 7 a.m. devotional services will be led by tenters on the campground. The speaker for the 11 a. m. and 7:30 p.m. services will be Dr. Dominic Aquila, a former Old Lebanon pastor and president of New Geneva Theological Seminary in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Pastor Jim Codling will lead the afternoon children activities. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
