The Choctaw County High School basketball team hasn’t played an official game and won’t for more than four months, but head coach Gary Beals already likes what he sees from his Chargers.
The CCHS boys team took part in a day camp at the University of Alabama recently and won two of the three games they played.
“I was pleased with the effort,” said Beals. “The kids have responded real well so far. The games we played were tight and we made the right decisions we needed to make to win those games.”
Beals said the summer practices are important to both the boys and the girls teams as they get accustomed to playing together.
“We haven’t had an opportunity for the girls to play any games yet, but both teams are getting some practices in,” he said. Beals noted that 10 starters combined from Weir and Ackerman were lost off the girls team.
“We are only going to have one senior on the boys team and one on the girls, so we will be young,” he said.
