Farmers’ Market

The Choctaw County Farmers’ Market was scheduled to be held every Friday in June and July. Due to weather conditions that delayed planting, the market will not be held in June.

Driver Ed. Registration

Classes will be July 8-July 26, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., daily. Cost $150. Students receive ½ credit. Students are responsible for obtaining driving permit or drivers license before assigned driving time. Contact Lynn Scribner at the school 285-4101 to sign up. Class is limited to the first 20 to sign up.

VBS at FC Presbyterian Church

June 18-21

VBS at French Camp Presbyterian Church will be June 18-21, 9 am-11:30 am for K-6 grade. This year’s theme is Kingdom Chronicles: Standing Strong in the Battle for Truth published by Answers in Genesis. At Kingdom Chronicles, your brave knights and fair maidens will learn to put on a piece of God’s armor each day. Daylilies

June 20

Daylilies – Summer Flowers with Pizzazz! will be presented Thursday, June 20 from 12:00 – 1:00pm at the Choctaw County Extension Office. Dr. Wayne Porter will present the program by interactive video. The public is invited to attend this free program. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Revival

June 21-23

Crape Creek Baptist Church invites everyone to Revival on June 21-23 with Evangelist Roy Hawkins. Friday and Saturday Services -7 PM and Sunday 11 AM followed by Dinner on the Grounds.

Entomology Camp for youth June 22

A 4-H Entomology camp will be held Saturday, June 22 from 8 am until noon at the Choctaw County Extension Office.  We will look at insects under a microscope, identify them and look at insect collections.  This free workshop is for youth ages 8-12 years of age. Space is limited to 10 youth. To pre-register, call 285-6337. Workshop will be conducted by Jenny Bibb, MSU Entomology Club.

Cook-Out/Gospel Singing June 22

Bethsalem Male Chorus will be hosting a Benefit Cook-Out/Gospel Singing program for Deacon George Cork. The Cook-Out will begin at noon at the Bethsalem M.B. Church and will go over into the singing program which will begin at 6 p.m. Our guest groups appearing on this night will be: Noxubee County Mass Choir – Shuqualak, James Spann and the Spann Bros. – Pheba, True Magnifiers – Ackerman, Tim Frierson and Committed – West Point and The Mighty Gospel Warriors – Bruce.

Gospel singing

The Cowboy Church in Vaiden will host a gospel singing at 6 p.m. June 22. The church is located at 1557 CR #5.The Master’s Quartet of Booneville, Crossville Quartet of Pearl (formerly Pearl River Quartet), Chuck Clark of Iuka, Joy Card and Linda Odom will perform. VBS at Ackerman Baptist June 24-28

Grab your tickets and head on over to Colossal Coaster World™! Come join us as we experience the thrill and excitement of a day at the park! As we explore the park, kids will enter Worship Rally at the Main Gate and make their first stop at Coaster Alley for Bible study. While touring the park, kids will also visit the Cotton Candy Cafe for snacks, the Adrenaline Zone for recreation, Tune Town for music, and the Scissors and Stuff Emporium for crafts. It’s Vacation Bible School at Ackerman Baptist Church like you’ve never experienced before! Children age four through 6th grade are admitted free from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. June 24-28. Weir Library Summer Reading Program June 25

June is the month to “Dig into Reading” sponsored by the Weir Library and the Town of Weir.  Come June 25 at 2 pm in the Donnie Crowder Community Center (formerly Crowder’s Drugs).  Bring your children ,Pre-K through sixth grade, to enjoy the story and  fun! For more information call the Weir Library at 547-6747.  This summer reading program is an outreach of Turning the Tide on Poverty.

Meet & Greet at Weir Clinic June 26

Pioneer Community Hospital of Choctaw and the Choctaw County Chamber of Commerce will host a grand re-opening for the Pioneer Family Medical of Weir on Wednesday, June 26, 2013.

The public is invited to attend the grand re-opening from 10 a.m. to noon. Pioneer Family Medical of Weir will welcome Cherrie Winter, CFNP and her staff. This is an opportunity to meet and greet with all of the staff at the clinic.

VBS at Providence Baptist July 7-10

NAACP meeting

July 15

The NAACP of Choctaw County will meet April 15 at 6 p.m. at Mt. Hermon Church in Ackerman. New members are welcome. The NAACP meets the third Monday of every month.

Cooking Workshops for youth July 18

This is the second of three cooking workshops for youth that will be held this summer at the Choctaw County Extension Office. Ole’ beans Ole’ is for youth 6-9 years of age. It will be held July 18 from 10-11 am at the Choctaw County Extension Office. We will make Ole’ frijoles (bean dip), discuss different beans and how they are used, bean bag toss, microwave safety & more. Cooking Workshops for youth July 25

This is the last of three cooking workshops for youth that will be held this summer at the Choctaw County Extension Office. The Incredible Edible 5 food groups are for youth 6-9 years of age. It will be held July 25 from 10-11:00 am at the Choctaw County Extension Office.  We will make learn how to build a healthy plate, prepare an incredible edible 4 food-group parfait and do fun activities. Kinfolk Family Reunion July 25

Revival July 7-10

Bluff Springs Baptist Church (Choctaw Co.) and Pastor Kevin Black invite you to attend revival starting at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on July 7, and July 8-10 at 7 p.m. Allen Robinson, Pastor of Rosedale Baptist Church of Rosedale will be the visiting speaker.
